Welcome to the Fellowship of the Round Table (F.O.R.T) |
|
F.O.R.T. is a long –established discussion and study group. Our aim is to raise political/cultural consciousness and to network for social change by holding regular open Forums. F.O.R.T. has no links or connections with any political, business, social or religious organisation, whatsoever, All funds are spent on printed/internet information and public meetings.
We believe in the importance of culture, individuality and moral integrity and in the dignity, value and liberty of each person.
Our Motto: ‘We serve Truth, not consensus’.
Epictetus, the Greek stoic philosopher of the first century, said, “it is better by yielding to truth, to conquer opinion, than by yielding to opinion, to be defeated by truth”.
F.O.R.T. organises regular evening Forums at Parliament House Sydney, inviting high profile guest Speakers to address current, cutting edge Topics in the beautiful Jubilee Room. So join us in a pre supper, enjoy the prepared talks, prepare your questions for our Speakers, spread the word and keep your eye on this website for details of our next Forum.

Our 11th. Forum and most recent public Forum took place on 16th. June. The Topic, ‘Family Law – is the man the Loser?’ Again, we welcomed an enthusiastic audience to the beautiful Jubilee Room, Parliament House Sydney, where we first enjoyed a light supper and chat together, then at 6.30pm took our seats and listened to a Panel of 5 very interesting Guest Speakers: -
Mr. Mark Youssef - LLM - BA MLLP - Master of Law & Legal Practice, specialising in Family Law and legal education. Mr. John Stapleton - Founder ‘Dads on the Air’ and Journalist. Mr. Peter Van de Voorde - Producer/Presenter ‘Dads on the Air’, and Singer, Songwriter Mr. Warwick Marsh - Dads4Kids Fatherhood Foundation, Writer, Producer, who brought out his guitar and sang for us as part of his talk. Ms Barbara Biggs - Journalist, Author, Child protection campaigner - the one woman Speaker among 4 men!
Questions from the floor following the speeches, were animated and often impassioned, as this Topic is a very emotive one, with personal relevance to some of the Speakers and many of the audience. It was a sign of the Forum's success, I think that at the close of this evening, that wide chasm that usually divides impassably opposing opinions on this Topic - seemed temporarily at least, to have been bridged, as friendly conversation flowed between all 5 Speakers and their audience. A wonderful evening indeed.
Hear ye! Hear ye! Our next Forum will be held Tuesday September 8th. again in the Jubilee Room Parliament House, at 6pm -8.30pm. The Topic - 'Cyberhate? Censorship on the Internet'. Each speaker will talk for maximum 20 minutes and treat the topic as he/she chooses. Entry: $20 – includes light Supper before Speakers begin Your questions from the floor will be welcome when all four guest Speakers have concluded.
